Miami Heat

The NBA's Miami Heat needed voter approval to build a new arena on the downtown waterfront, but polls showed more than 60 percent of Dade County voters opposed the plan. TenCAPITOL worked alongside Heat management in the face of opposition from anti-tax groups and many civic leaders. We developed powerful messages that focused on the benefits of a new waterfront park and turning Miami into a world-class city. The aggressive six-week campaign effort included radio, television, outdoor media, direct mail and telephone banks. On Election Day, Dade County voters approved the new Heat arena by a stunning 59 to 41 percent margin.
